New Beginnings

Exactly one week from today I will be living in the land of my forefathers. I'm looking forward to this new beginning. I've been talking about studying abroad since I was a freshman in high school. People didn't think I would actually do it. But now I am, even if my finances aren't exactly where I would like them for this. lol.

I have so many things that I want to do while I'm there...so many things I want to experience. Volunteering at the Copenhagen Fashion Festival. Exploring the castles of Denmark.St. Patty's Day in Ireland. A weekend in Amsterdam learning about human trafficking and prostitution. Michael Buble concert in the Netherlands. Two weeks traveling to as many of the countries on my bucket list as possible. Visiting the town where my ancestors grew up. Beer tastings. Danish cooking classes. Harry Potter Universal Studios in London...the list goes on and on.

Six days from now I will be leaving my hometown, my country. Not for the first time but for the longest time. And one week from today I will be landing in Copenhagen. Ready to start living my new life in 2012.

Just 8 Days left...

Nothing Denmark-related to talk about today. Can't believe there's only 8 days until I leave the country...its crazy. I haven't even begun to pack.

Got called in to substitute teach at my former high school this morning. There's nothing I love more than a 6:15 am phone call when I didn't even go to bed til 3 am. lol. But it was fun. Weird interacting with some of my former teachers in a colleague way. Making a little extra cash for Denmark is never a bad thing though. =]
 I'm even looking forward to subbing again when I return from my travels!

Finally...a place to live!

The DIS Spring 2012 Facebook group is abuzz with people announcing their housing arrangements...myself included. I woke up this morning to 2 emails detailing where I will be living while I am in Copenhagen.


I will be living in the Østerbro Kollegiet, right near 2 grocery stores, a dance club, and plenty of shopping! I am glad that I got my first choice residence, but sad to be on the first floor (although I'm sure there won't be any complaints when I'm hauling my luggage in after a 10 hour flight) lol.

 Østerbro Kollegiet is a renovated parking garage, which is kinda cool. Either way, its 100X nicer than any college dorm at Simmons. lol.

Once I received my email, I went in search of my DIS floormates on Facebook, but sadly had a difficult time finding them. And I didn't recognize any of their names from the DIS Facebook group either. Guess the bonding will have to wait until we land!

I'm also excited because my kollegium has a rooftop terrace...should be pretty sweet at night. =]
